WASH Programme

In Nigeria women collect water from the river, boreholes are needed to help prevent Neglected Tropical Diseases.

Help give access to fresh clean water!

Please send your gift to help WASH away the misery of Neglected Tropical Diseases in the world’s poorest places!

“Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham…” – Genesis 26:18

Thank you for your generosity to help transform the lives of people with disabilities living in poverty. Each and every gift you give is a true blessing.

Most of us are fortunate to have a good supply of fresh clean water to use for our every-day living, but that is often not the case in many of the world’s poorest places. Around the world, there are millions of people who do not have access to fresh clean water.

In Nigeria cbm’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene project (WASH) focuses on delivering clean water and good sanitation practices to communities to prevent Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) from taking hold again.

Your gift today can help provide clean water, and ensure good sanitation and hygiene practices are accessible to communities, including people with disabilities.

Having access to clean water from well-maintained boreholes helps free communities from contracting NTDs, such as River Blindness.

It also means children and adults no longer need to spend many hours walking to the river to gather muddied and contaminated water.

Ensuring clean water sources, along with good sanitation and hygiene practices in the world’s poorest places, is what your generous gift helps deliver.

Because fresh clean water helps keep people healthy. And healthy people are more productive, able to access education and employment, and have a far greater chance of breaking the cycle of poverty and disability.

In Nigeria boreholes are being repaired to prevent Neglected Tropical Diseases.

Your gift today will be a true blessing and will help WASH away the misery of NTDs, like River Blindness.

It will provide fresh clean water, and ensure good sanitation and hygiene practices are accessible to all, including people with disabilities.

Clean water from boreholes is vital to a community, but many existing boreholes have stopped functioning for various reasons. They are often broken and in need of urgent repair due to their age.

Usually the only place to get water is from an open well or a river where there is great risk of contamination and pollution, and a greater risk of contracting NTDs.

But thankfully, this is where your loving kindness comes in…

With support from generous people like you, new or refurbished boreholes will be made available to people in remote areas, providing a centrally located source of fresh clean water. And adding wheelchair ramps will make gathering water safer and more accessible for people with disabilities.

Right now, there are many children, adults and whole communities in great need of fresh clean water in places like Nigeria…

Please will you prayerfully consider making a lasting difference with your gift to help provide fresh clean water to communities and help provide sanitation education to primary schools, including setting up WASH Clubs, and installing fully accessible handwashing stations.

One very important aspect of cbm’s WASH programme is the training of local people, by cbm’s partner, to repair broken wells. Dauda (left) and Lawu (right) are two such locals who have been trained to repair broken boreholes in Kano State.

As a result of this practical training, people in their local community, including people with disabilities, now have access to fresh clean water from their newly refurbished borehole.

Whilst this community is now thriving, there are many other remote places in Nigeria where children and adults are in urgent need of fresh clean water.

But your gift today can help change that. Your WASH gift will be a blessing to the people of Nigeria. It will help provide sanitation and hygiene education to primary schools, including setting up WASH Clubs and installing handwashing stations. And also help provide new or refurbished boreholes so communities can have a centrally located source of clean water, with the addition of wheelchair ramps to make the task of gathering water safer and more accessible for people with disabilities.

Clean water from boreholes will help prevent Neglected Tropical Diseases in the world's poorest places.

Having access to fresh clean water is life-changing for everyone in the community, including people with disabilities who often cannot access clean water due to their disability.

We thank God for the support of generous people like you. But we are very concerned that there are children and adults who are still unable to access fresh clean water in the world’s poorest places.

Please will you help provide them with fresh clean water to WASH away the misery of NTDs, like River Blindness. Thank you for prayerfully considering a gift today.

With your generous support, we can help provide fresh clean water, and good sanitation and hygiene practices, to WASH away the misery of NTDs.

Thank you for your kind and caring heart. May God bless you.
