Leaving a Gift in Your Will

Some people are uncomfortable talking about Wills and other estate planning issues. It reminds us that life on this earth is not permanent.

Yet, as believers in Jesus, we have a wonderful future to look forward to. And there can be a real sense of satisfaction and comfort knowing that you’re properly organized through an up-to-date Will – an expression of your wishes and priorities.

After our loved ones have been cared for, a charitable gift in your Will could be one final way for you to leave a lasting mark of love on the world.

By leaving a gift in your Will to cbm, you’ll show that love by restoring sight and ability to men, women and children …

Your legacy could be training eye surgeons to perform cataract surgery, building operating rooms for children who had their twisted feet straightened…

You’ll be a key part in thousands of God’s miracles each year.

THREE WAYS TO LEAVE A BEQUEST:

Residuary

This is where you give what is left in your estate to cbm after all estate debts and expenses are met and your family has been looked after. It’s the simplest and most effective way to support cbm.

“I give my residuary estate to Christian Blind Mission International (New Zealand), for its general purposes.

“I also declare that the receipt of the authorised officer for the time being of the organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors/trustees.”

Percentage

You can leave a percentage of your estate to cbm. This gives longevity to your Will as your gift will not be influenced by inflation or changes in the value of your estate.

“I give (insert percentage) % of my residuary estate to Christian Blind Mission International (New Zealand), for its general purposes.

“I also declare that the receipt of the authorised officer for the time being of the organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors/trustees.”

Specific Gift

This is where you give cbm a specific sum of money or specific property such as real estate or an item of value (such as a painting or insurance policy). This bequest will only take place if you own the asset at the date of your death.

“I give (specific assets such as real estate, shares etc or specific sum of money) to Christian Blind Mission International (New Zealand), free of all duties and encumbrances, for its general purposes.

“I also declare that the receipt of the authorised officer for the time being of the organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors/trustees.”

*Note: cbm New Zealand’s legal name is Christian Blind Mission International (New Zealand).
